Troubles seem to be mounting for Lalu Prasad Yadav's eldest son, Tej Pratap. After being expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) this year and then losing the Mahua assembly seat in the recently held Bihar elections, Tej Pratap may now face action from the electricity department over an unpaid bill of more than Rs 3 lakhs.According to local media reports, the electricity department has revealed that Tej Pratap Yadav, who owns a private house in Patna, has not paid the bill for the past three years. The total outstanding bill is said to be approximately Rs 3,61,000.The electricity department revealed that he last deposited Rs 1,04,799 on July 20, 2022, and since then, no payment has been made for three years. The electricity bill of November
2025 clearly states that he owes Rs 2,30,160 to the department. This includes a late fee of Rs 23,681 and other charges of Rs 71,142. Despite the outstanding dues, the electricity connection at his home has not been disconnected so far, reports stated. Also Read:'Mere Pyaare Mummy, Papa...': Tej Pratap Pens Heartfelt Message, Blames 'Greedy People' For Family Rift
Ousted Tej Pratap loses Mahua seat
Tej Pratap faced electoral defeat this year after he lost Mahua, which had been a Yadav-family stronghold historically. Tej Pratap first won Mahua in 2015, but in 2020, he moved constituencies and the RJD retained Mahua through Mukesh Raushan. This year, he returned to contest Mahua without RJD's ticket after being expelled from the party by patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav. However, his new Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD) party fell through. The 37-year-old was expelled from both the RJD and his family in May after a post on Tej Pratap Yadav's Facebook account claimed he was in a relationship with a young woman, Anushka Yadav, for the past 12 years. The post was later deleted, and Tej Pratap said his account was hacked. However, the development did not go well with the head of the family and others."Ignoring moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct, and irresponsible behaviour of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I remove him from the party and the family. From now on, he will not have any role of any kind in the party or the family. He is expelled from the party for 6 years," Lalu said in a post on X.
