Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the much-awaited Ganga Expressway. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present at the event. The Ganga Expressway is Uttar Pradesh's longest expressway and one of India's largest greenfield highway projects. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 36,230 crore, the massive six-lane expressway stretches 594 kilometres from Meerut to Prayagraj. The Ganga Expressway is being developed as an economic corridor, not just a road. The Uttar Pradesh government has planned 12 Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) along the route.- Land identified: 6,507 acres

Strategic Importance of Ganga Expressway
A special 3.5-km airstrip has been built in Shahjahanpur. It can be used for emergency landings by fighter aircraft, giving the expressway strategic defence importance as well.The Ganga Expressway will connect seamlessly with several major highways, including:- Yamuna Expressway
- Agra–Lucknow Expressway
- Jewar Link Expressway
- Noida International Airport connectivity routes
