''As Per High Court Orders': Delhi Police After Sonam Wangchuk Removed From Protest Site And Shifted To Hospital

New Delhi: After Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the protest site and shifted to a hospital on 21st day of the hunger strike on Saturday, the Delhi Police issued a statement saying that the decision was taken according to the Delhi High Court order and on expert medical advice due to his deteriorating health condition."As per orders of Hon’ble High Court and on expert medical advise due to the deteriorating health condition of Sh. Sonam Wangchuk, he has been shifted to the hospital for essential medical care," the Police said in a statement"While complying with the orders of Hon’ble High Court the protestors tried to create obstruction, in which slight commotion ensued, however police took maximum restrain and undertook the exercise safely,"

it added.The police also urged all the protesters at Jantar Mantar to peacefully vacate the place at the earliest.Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike at Delhi's Jantar Mantar for the past 20 days was taken to a hospital by Delhi Police on Saturday. Police reached Jantar Mantar early on Saturday morning and shifted climate activist to a hospital amid protests and sloganeering by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) activists.The removal comes just a day after Anurag Kumar, the former special director of the Intelligence Bureau, was named the new commissioner of Delhi Police, the government said on Friday (July 17).
