‘Energising Session’: PM Modi Plays Football with Youngsters in Sikkim's Gangtok - In Pics

Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, April 28, shared a bunch of pictures in which he is seen playing football with youngsters during his visit to Sikkim. The Prime Minister is on a two-day tour of the Himalayan state to attend celebrations marking 50 years of statehood.

In an X post PM wrote, "Nothing like playing some football with my young friends in Sikkim on a lovely Gangtok morning!" In another post, he said, “Clearly, an energising football session with these youngsters!”

PM Modi arrived here on Monday and led a mega roadshow in Gangtok. PM Modi, who wore a traditional Bhutia cap and a Lepcha coat, was received at the Libing helipad by Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

From the helipad, the PM began the roadshow, which concluded at Lok Bhavan. On the open vehicle, Modi was flanked by CM Tamang on his left and state BJP president D R Thapa on his right.

He is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony of 50 years of Sikkim's statehood and launch projects worth Rs 4,000 crore on Tuesday. He will also visit an orchidarium at the Swarnajayanti Maitri Manjari Park here at around 9.30 am. The park has been developed as a world-class orchid experience centre.Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in the state capital and surrounding areas in view of Modi's visit. The Prime Minister will go to Paljor Stadium here to participate in the closing ceremony of Sikkim's 50th year of statehood, where he will launch multiple development projects worth over Rs 4,000 crore. He will also address the gathering on the occasion, the officials said.The PM was scheduled to address the year-long celebrations of 50 years of Sikkim's statehood at a function at Paljor Stadium on May 29 last year, but he could not reach the venue at the last minute due to inclement weather conditions.However, he did address the gathering through video conferencing and had promised to visit Sikkim in future.(With inputs from PTI)
