French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday called upon Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid the crisis in West Asia during the ongoing war. The two leaders also discussed free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic sea passage that accounts for a fifth of global energy trade, but has been blocked by Iran and now the United States also. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, PM Modi informed, "Received a phone call from my dear friend President Emmanuel Macron. We discussed the situation in West Asia and agreed on the need to urgently restore safety and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. We will continue our close cooperation to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond."PM Modi has been in touch with world leaders especially
the heads of the Gulf nations ever since the war in the Middle East started that has led to a security situation of Indian nationals in countries including UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain among others as Tehran has been targeting US assets in these nations to mount pressure on Donald Trump to end the war.Iran has also blocked the Strait of Hormuz, a key strategic sea trade route, disrupting oil and gas supply to several nations, especially those in Asia and Europe.
