The Rajasthan state government and its investigative bodies, including the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), have taken action against 103 officers suspended since January 2024. The list of punitive measures names dismissed officials, several medical officers and administrative staff; 11 former officials have had their lifetime pensions permanently withheld.The state has suspended 103 officers, dismissed six, permanently stopped pensions for 11 ex-officials, and granted sanction for prosecution in 108 cases. An additional 37 cases have seen action under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Allegations include bribery, trap operations, misuse of official position, and possession of disproportionate assets.The suspensions cover a period
of roughly two and a half years, with the government noting the tally of 103 suspensions since January 2024. The latest summary of actions was released by the state on May 29.The actions affect officials across Rajasthan, with specific cases cited from districts including Bhilwara, Jhunjhunu, Bharatpur, Dungarpur, Dausa, Alwar, Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur, Banswara and others. Notable institutions involved include the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Public Works Department (PWD), health centres (CHCs), and the Rajasthan Water Supply & Sewerage Board.Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has framed the measures as a demonstration of a “zero-tolerance” policy toward corruption and a bid to deliver transparent, accountable governance. Officials say the crackdown targets those who allegedly diverted public funds, produced fraudulent reports or misused their positions.The government has used administrative actions like suspensions, dismissals, compulsory retirement and pension-withholding,alongside legal measures, including granting prosecution sanctions and invoking Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Cases named in the government list include engineer and PHED personnel, medical officers, and administrative officers; prosecutions were sanctioned for 108 specified cases.
