A
mysterious pigeon intercepted in a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector has triggered fresh security concerns, prompting police to launch a detailed investigation. The pale grey pigeon, marked with two distinct black bars on each wing, was caught by a local resident in Kharah village on Friday. What raised suspicion were the red and yellow identification rings on the bird’s legs, inscribed with the names ‘Rehmat Sarkar’ and ‘Rizwan 2025,’ followed by a series of numbers.

The pigeon was subsequently handed over to Pallanwala police, who are now examining whether it may have been trained or used for long-distance communication.
While authorities have not officially linked the pigeon to any terror activity, security agencies are treating the matter cautiously. The Akhnoor sector has previously witnessed incidents involving birds suspected of being used for cross-border signaling or surveillance. Police sources said the pigeon is being kept under observation as investigators attempt to trace the origin of the markings and inscriptions.
