Jakarta: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a two-day visit to Indonesia as part of India's Act East Policy. Notably, Indonesia is viewing India as more than just a strategic ally, looking at New Delhi as a reliable partner for technology, governance, and development. India's successful public policy initiatives across multiple sectors are emerging as key models for Indonesia's own development goals.During PM Mooi's visit, several key deals are expected to be signed between the two nations, especially in defence and technology sectors. From Indonesia's decision to procure Indian-made Astra air-to-air missiles and expand its BrahMos arsenal to India's support for developing Indonesia-specific Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the visit is set
to mark a new chapter in bilateral ties, sources claimed.
BIG Outcomes Expected During PM Modi's Indonesia Visit:
- In a big endorsement of India’s election management model, India will support the development of Indonesia-specific EVMs, the sources told Times Now.
- After the proven success of India’s air-to-air missile power in Operation Sindoor, Indonesia has decided to import Indian Astra missiles, they added.
- To strengthen the critical mineral supply chain, India is to invest in the manufacturing of steel, nickel and rare earth permanent magnets in Indonesia, the sources claimed.
- Indonesia expands its BrahMos inventory; India will reportedly support Indonesia with more batteries.
- India and Indonesia reportedly will jointly develop the Sabang port, which overlooks the Strait of Malacca and is 100 miles away from India’s Great Nicobar port project.
