The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday constituted an 8-member oversight team to over IndiGo's functioning due to the recent operational disruptions. "In view of passenger inconvenience caused due to large-scale disruptions in the operations of IndiGo Airlines at various airports across the country, it has been decided to constitute an Oversight Team," the DGCA said in a statement. The aviation safety regulator said that two members of the team would be deployed at airline's corporate office. According to DGCA, the oversight team will have the following members: (i) Capt. This comes a day after IndiGo's Chief Executive Officer Pieter Elbers claimed that the airline's operations were back on track. On Tuesday, Elbers claimed that the airline was "back on its feet" and its operations were "stable". Earlier today, the DGCA directed IndiGo CEO Elbers to appear at its office on Thursday and submit a complete report, along with comprehensive data and updates, relating to the recent operational disruptions. The DGCA asked Elbers to appear at its office at 3 pm on Thursday.IndiGo Flight Cancellations Live Updates As per the regulator's order, the airline has been asked to present information on the flight restoration, recruitment plan of pilots and crew, with updated position of pilot and cabin crew strength, number of flights cancelled and refunds processed, among others. Earlier, the DGCA had formed a panel to probe the disruptions. The four-member committee has been mandated to identify the root causes behind the operational breakdown. It comprises Joint DG Sanjay Brahamane, Deputy Director General Amit Gupta, senior Flight Operations Inspector Kapil Manglik, and FOI Lokesh Rampal. The panel has been directed to closely examine manpower planning, fluctuating crew rostering systems and the airline's readiness to implement the latest duty period and rest norms for pilots.The Centre has slashed IndiGo's winter flight schedule by 10 per cent or around 220 flights of the nearly 2,200 approved per day.
