Bihar Election Result 2025: The D‑Day in the high‑stakes Bihar Assembly Election 2025 is here as counting of votes progresses across all 243 assembly constituencies. According to the latest Election Commission of India (ECI) trends at 11:30 AM, the BJP–JD(U)-led NDA alliance is heading for a grand victory, while the RJD–Congress-led Mahagathbandhan is staring at its biggest upset. An interesting trend emerging from the counting is the neck‑and‑neck contest for the single largest party position within the NDA itself, between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United). As of 11:30 AM, the BJP is leading on 84 seats while its alliance partner JD(U) is ahead on 75. Both the parties contested on equal number of seats, 101. The contest for the single largest party has
witnessed multiple flip‑flops ever since counting began at 8 AM, with the lead alternating between BJP and JD(U).Together, the NDA is currently leading in 188 seats out of the total 243 in Bihar. For the Mahagathbandhan, the results are proving to be a major disappointment. The RJD, led by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s younger son Tejashwi, contested 143 seats but is leading on just 36 constituencies. Its ally Congress is facing its worst performance yet, ahead in only 6 seats out of the 61 it contested. ALSO READ | Bihar Election Results 2025 LIVEEarlier at 10 AM, it was the JDU that was emerging as the single largest party, leading on 61 seats out of the 101 it contested. What was significant at this moment was in the 2020 election, JD(U) had underperformed despite contesting more seats than its ally BJP—winning only 43 seats. Yet, the NDA alliance managed to form the government.JD(U)’s ally and 'big brother,' the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was not far behind, leading on 56 seats. In the very early trends, it was the BJP which was leading on maximum number of seats.Meanwhile, a disappointment is surrounding Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)—which had emerged as the single largest party in 2020 with 75 seats—was trailing this time, leading on just 33 seats out of 143 contested, as per ECI trends. On the Mahagathbandhan side, Congress, which contested 61 seats, was ahead in only 10 constituencies, far below expectations. On November 11, most exit polls have also predicted a victory for the BJP-JD(U)-led NDA while a setback to the RJD-Congress-led Mahagathbandhan. Some exit polls had also projected that JD(U) may emerge as the single largest party and the trends at this moment are running almost similar.Though these are the trends and not results, if they hold until the final outcome, the BJP will emerge as the single largest party. That said, past elections have often witnessed dramatic reversals, with parties trailing in the morning surging ahead by the time final results are declared.
