floods, triggered by heavy rains, wreaked havoc in several parts of northeast India, including Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Several areas are inundated, throwing the normal life out of gear. So far, there are no reports of any casualties due to floods in these two states. Authorities have launched rescue and relief operations in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang.
Flood Situation In Assam:
A sudden rise in the water level of the Dikari River due to flash floods has put the normal life out of gear in
Assam's Jonai. Over 15 people were reportedly left stranded on a riverine char in the region. The overflowing Dikari River inundated several low-lying areas, residential localities, roads, and agricultural fields, cutting off communication to many villages. The floodwaters also trapped over 15 residents on Koraibari Char at Telam after the river surrounded the char from all sides early on Sunday morning.
Floods
The stranded people have remained marooned since morning as the rapidly rising water level made it impossible for them to reach safer places. According to local sources, nearly 100 cattle are also stranded along with the people on the char.Meanwhile, the flood situation in
Koraibari Char continues to worsen as the water level keeps rising, creating panic among the stranded families. Several other areas of Jonai have also been affected, with many families shifting to safer locations while floodwaters submerged houses, roads and crop fields.Local residents have informed the Jonai administration about the emergency. Authorities have reportedly initiated arrangements to deploy an SDRF team to carry out rescue operations. However, at the time of filing this report, the stranded people were still awaiting evacuation as rescue teams raced against the rising floodwaters."There have been no casualties in Assam so far. Our priority is to ensure that there is no loss of life, and we are taking every possible measure to save each and every person," Sushanta Borgohain, the Minister of Water Resources of Assam, told Times Now.
Flood Situation In Arunachal Pradesh:

Several people were reportedly missing after flash floods struck the state.Personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) launched a rescue operation in Arunachal Pradesh's East Siang district on Sunday to evacuate people stranded due to the prevailing flood situation. The first stranded individual was rescued safely as the operation commenced. Rescue teams used boats to reach the affected area despite challenging conditions caused by rising water levels.Officials said the rescue boat has successfully reached the opposite bank and is now preparing to return to evacuate more stranded persons from the affected location. The rescue operation is currently underway, with NDRF personnel continuing efforts to ensure the safe evacuation of all those stranded. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as flood conditions persist in several parts of the district.
