Bengaluru: DK Shivakumar on Wednesday was sworn in as the Karnataka Chief Minister, succeeding Siddaramaih. After taking charge, Shivakumar announced a series of decisions with a focus on youth-centric and welfare initiatives. Free bus passes for students and establishment of a private employment exchange were among the slew of welfare schemes announced by the Karnataka CM on the first day in the office.After taking charge, Shivakumar chaired the first Cabinet meeting . Free bus passes to students, setting up of private employment exchange, drive to issue the A-Khata document and Rs 2,000 crore for Bengaluru roads are among the key decisions taken by Shivakumar and his cabinet. during a press briefing, Shivakumar said hat any decision will not
be taken unilaterally, it will be a collective decision.

Free Bus Passes For Students:The first meeting of Karnataka's new cabinet decided to grant free bus passes to all students in non-luxury government buses.
"This is the youth era. Students were asking why there is a free bus just for girls. We are giving passes to all students - free bus pass without any charge. Bus pass is free for all school and college students. This is the first decision by DK Shivakumar cabinet. Students have to apply for this, will discuss this with the Transport Department," Shivakumar said.
Private Unemployment Exchange:Shivakumar also said that private employment exchange will be set up to address the issue of unemployment where people can enroll for jobs. "Today we have taken a big decision, whoever is search for jobs at private sector, we are bringing up a private employment exchange program. We will enroll youngsters looking for job, register it and we will ask them what sort of job they need, we will train them and prepare them and ensure they get a job there." the Karnataka CM stated.

We have to call for government jobs for 50,000 posts in the state. By the next cabinet we will discuss the process, notification about jobs and release a calendar.," he added.
Bharat Jodo Yuva Sanghs:Shivakumar announced setting up 10,000 Bharat Jodo Yuva Sangha across Karnataka to raise leadership quality and build social harmony in the state. "It has been decided to form Bharat Jodo Youth Clubs in villages. The government will provide Rs 10 lakhs. This is being done so that youth clubs can be formed without resorting to other bad habits. The goal is to form 10,000 Bharat Jodo Clubs," Shivakumar said.
A-Khata Document:The Cabinet decided that the drive to issue the A-Khata document to unauthorised buildings will be extended across Karnataka.
Shivakumar's Appeal To Media:The Karnataka CM also appealed to the media to cooperate with the government. He said he was not against criticism of the government, but the media should avoid "cooking up stories.""The four pillars of democracy should work in tandem," he stated.Earlier in the day, Shivakumar was sworn in as Karnataka's Chief Minister. He took the oath of office at Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the state's politics. Along with Shivakumar, 13 MLAs also took an oath as cabinet ministers.

Veteran Congress leader G Parameshwara, who served as Home Minister in the outgoing Siddaramaiah government and is regarded as one of the party's most prominent Dalit faces, was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and chief ministers in party-ruled states, besides some opposition leaders, attended the oath-taking ceremony.
