Minister Narendra Modi ceremonially hoisted the Dharma Dhwaj atop the Ram Temple on Tuesday, marking the formal completion of the shrine and the fulfillment of what he said was a "500-year-old resolve". Departing from the traditional flag-hoisting ritual, where a rope is pulled downward to unfurl the flag, the ceremony saw a new mechanism being used. After priests conducted Vedic rites, Prime Minister Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat proceeded to a podium crafted in the shape of folded hands in the namaskara gesture, placed beside the flag. By guiding the symbolic hand toward the flag, the two leaders activated a mechanism that elevated the Dharma Dhwaj to the temple’s summit electronically.

'500-Year Wound Healed': PM Modi
Addressing the gathering after the ceremony, PM Modi called the moment "epochal". The "wounds and pain" of centuries are healing as a 500-year-old resolve is finally being fulfilled with the formal completion of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, he said."Today, the entire India and the world is Ram-may. There is extraordinary satisfaction in the heart of every Rama devotee. There is boundless gratitude. There is unfathomable supernatural bliss. The wounds of centuries are being healed. The pain of centuries is being put to rest today. The resolve of centuries is being fulfilled today. Today is the completion of that sacrifice whose fire remained lit for 500 years," said PM Modi.

PM Modi said the sacred flag would stand as a testament that "truth ultimately triumphs over falsehood," and congratulated Ram 'bhakts' along with all those who contributed to the construction of the temple."I urge every citizen to visit the Sapt Mandapam when they come to the Ram Temple. These mandaps strengthen the values of faith, friendship, duty and social harmony. Our Ram unites through emotion, not division, what matters to him is devotion, not lineage," he added. The flag hoisting marked the formal completion of the Ram temple complex, nearly six years after the Supreme Court's landmark 2019 verdict that allotted the entire 2.77-acre disputed site for the Ram Mandir. According to an official statement, the saffron flag measuring 22 feet x 11 feet is made of parachute-grade cloth with a thick nylon hoisting rope, and is mounted atop a 161-foot spire. The flag bears symbols of the Sun, representing Lord Ram's Surya Vansh, Om, and the Kovidara tree, described as the state tree of Ram Rajya.
