Some terrorist launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) remain active even after several were destroyed during Operation Sindoor, BSF Inspector General Ashok Yadav said on Sunday."Several terrorist launching pads across the LoC were destroyed during Operation Sindoor, but some launching pads are still active where there is the presence of terrorists," Yadav told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Srinagar.He said security forces remain on high alert to prevent any infiltration attempts into Kashmir. "There is always an attempt by Pakistan to infiltrate terrorists ahead of the winter. As you know, the visibility these days is low, but we have modern surveillance equipment, and we effectively cover the vulnerable patches. Our efforts
are to foil any infiltration attempt," he said.Yadav added that Operation Sindoor was still underway and warned that any attempt by Pakistan to disturb peace would be met with a strong response.Asked whether the BSF had made changes in preparedness along the LoC following the operation, he said, "Every challenge is a learning experience. Whatever we learn from those challenges is incorporated into future strategy to effectively take on new challenges."After Op Sindoor, increase in trend of weapon-dropping from Pak: BSF IG Punjab FrontierMeanwhile, BSF Inspector General (Punjab Frontier) Atul Fulzele told reporters in Amritsar that the force has recovered a significant quantity of arms and ammunition that were airdropped across the border using drones. He was speaking on the eve of the 61st Raising Day of the BSF.Punjab shares a 553-km stretch of the international border with Pakistan, covering six districts: Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Ferozepur and Fazilka.“Particularly after Operation Sindoor, we have seen that the weapons dropping trend has increased,” Fulzele said. He added that BSF troops recovered more than 200 weapons this year, most of them pistols, along with some AK-47 rifles.In addition to the arms cache, the BSF seized 265 magazines, 3,625 live rounds, 10 kilograms of explosives and 12 hand grenades, he said.Operation Sindoor involved pre-dawn missile strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. Among the locations struck were the Jaish-e-Mohammad stronghold in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba base in Muridke. The operation was launched after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Pakistan responded with strikes on Indian military bases and shelling along border areas for three days.Highlighting the BSF Punjab Frontier’s achievements for 2025, Fulzele said the force seized 272 drones that crossed into Indian territory. The BSF also recovered 367.788 kg of heroin, 19,033 kg of methamphetamine (ICE), and 14.437 kg of opium.This year, the force apprehended 251 Indian suspects, 18 Pakistani nationals, three Bangladeshi nationals and four Nepali nationals.
