Guwahati: Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday was sworn in as the chief minister of Assam for the second consecutive time. Speaking exclusively to Times Now, Sarma's daughter Sukanya called him a "rockstar." Sukanya said she feels “extremely proud” of her father and the journey he has undertaken over the years."I feel extremely proud of my father, Himanta Biswa Sarma. He has worked incredibly hard to reach where he is today, and he truly deserves it," Sarma's daughter told Times Now. "I always tell my dad that he is the biggest rockstar there is. I just want him to keep doing what he does best. And whenever he comes home, I will always be there waiting with ice cream," Sukanya added.
Despite the political grandeur surrounding the oath-taking ceremony, Sukanya revealed that celebrations at home remain simple and deeply personal. According to her, the family’s tradition is far removed from lavish parties or grand events.“Our way of celebrating is simple—just a tub of ice cream that we enjoy together, usually with our favourite film. That is our little tradition,” she shared.

"We are very happy for him and hope he does a good job, living up to the people’s expectations over the next five years. As of now, I’ll be here for a few more days. She described it as a blessing from the people of Assam and said the love and trust shown by the people have once again brought “Mama” back to serve the state.When asked how the family would celebrate the occasion, she said the real celebration would be by working harder for the people of Assam and continuing their dedication towards the state.

Himanta Biswa Sarma's Swearing-In:Four MLAs—the BJP's Rameswar Teli and Ajanta Neog, the AGP's Atul Bora, Charan Boro of the BPF—also took the oath as ministers. Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya administered the oath of office to Sarma and the four legislators at a grand ceremony held at the Veterinary Ground in the Khanapara area in Guwahati.Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Pabitra Margherita, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, and BJP president Nitin Nabin were present at the swearing-in ceremony. The oath-taking programme marks the formation of the third successive NDA government in the state.
