Union Home MinisterAmit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Sunday night for a two-day visit to Assam, during which he will inaugurate several major infrastructure and cultural projects and address a public gathering.After his arrival, Shah will stay overnight at the State Guest House in the Koinadhara area. No official programme has been scheduled for Sunday. On Monday, the Home Minister will begin the day by paying homage to the martyrs of the Assam Movement against illegal infiltration at the newly constructed Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Guwahati. He will then proceed to Batadrava Than in Borduwa, Nagaon district the birthplace of Vaishnava saint Srimanta Sankardeva where he will inaugurate the redevelopment project of the revered spiritual

Later in the day, Shah will return to Guwahati to inaugurate the new building of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate along with the Integrated Command and Control System (ICCS). The ICCS will monitor over 2,000 CCTV cameras across the city, significantly enhancing security surveillance and emergency response mechanisms in the state.Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the ICCS will provide a major boost to Guwahati’s safety infrastructure. He also noted that the state government has taken concerted efforts to restore the sanctity and grandeur of Batadrava Than after clearing encroachments. Shah’s final programme on Monday will be the inauguration of the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Complex in Guwahati, a modern auditorium with a seating capacity of 5,000. He is also expected to address a public gathering at the venue before departing for New Delhi.The Home Minister’s visit comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent two-day trip to Assam, during which several infrastructure projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid. The visit also gains significance as elections to the 126-member Assam Assembly are expected to be held early next year.
