political turmoil in Tamil Nadu appears to be nearing a conclusion as actor-politician "Thalapathy" Vijay secured the backing of key DMK allies, including the CPI and CPI(M). Reports also suggest that another DMK ally, the VCK, has extended its support to the TVK, further strengthening Vijay’s bid to form the government. The TVK chief is scheduled to meet Rajendra Arlekar this evening to stake claim to power, with his swearing-in ceremony likely to take place on May 9.
