A local notary lawyer in Madhya Pradesh witnessed "a once-in-a-lifetime moment of digital magic" after an amount of Rs 2,817 crore reflected in his demat account due to a technical glitch. The error, however,
was corrected within minutes and the amount in his account reverted to normal, reported NDTV. The incident was reported by Vinod Dongle, a respected notary and private school owner in town of Dhamnod in Dhar district. The mind-boggling figure of Rs 2,817 crore involved 1,312 shares of Harsil Agro Limited, each inexplicably priced at over Rs 2.14 crore per share."For a few minutes," said Dongle, according to NDTV. "I thought my destiny had changed overnight. It felt like winning every lottery in the world," he said with a grin. But reality returned almost as quickly as his fortune had appeared, and Dongle's temporary billionaire status vanished into the digital ether. The incident has become talk of the town in Dhamnod. This is not the first time a bank glitch took place. In 2022, a man from Gujarat became a crorepati due to a similar glitch for a couple of hours. Ramesh Sagar, a demat account holder with Kotak Securities, received Rs 11 crore on July 26, 2022. Although the money was withdrawn in a couple of hours, Sagar during that period made investments of around 2 crores in the stock market and made a profit of Rs 5 lakh. Earlier, two children in a Bihar village became richer by nearly a thousand crore rupees, albeit momentarily, thanks to a technical glitch which was immediately rectified by the bank concerned.
