Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who defined generations of Indian music with her versatile voice, died in Mumbai on Sunday at the age of 92. Condoling her demise, President Droupadi Murmu said, "The passing of Asha Bhosle Ji has created a huge void in the world of music. The last rites of the Asha Bhosle will be held tomorrow at Mumbai's Shivaji Park, her son Anand Bhosle said. The 92-year-old singer passed away on Sunday due to multi-organ failure at Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai.Asha Bhosle was admitted to the hospital Saturday evening due to a chest infection and exhaustion, according to her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle.Born on September 8, 1935 in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, she was initiated into music by her father Dinanath Mangeshkar just like her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar was. Among Asha's most popular songs are “Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar”, “In Ankhon Ki Masti”, “Dil Cheez Kya Hai”, “Piya Tu Ab to Aaja', Duniya Mein Logon Ko', and Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main', among others.The much awarded Asha, who was also was also a successful entrepreneur and ran the popular restaurant Asha in Dubai and the UK, won multiple awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke, Padma Vibhushan, National Awards and other music honours.
