Ayodhya: Former General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Champat Rai has reportedly told his close associates that his "service in Ayodhya is over" and that he does not wish to continue with what he described as the "stigma," PTI reported on Thursday, citing sources.According to the sources, Rai is currently in seclusion. He also said that his trust has been "betrayed." However, he did not divulge any details. Notably, Rai and trustee Anil Mishra had already resigned from their posts on June 27 amid the ongoing probe in the alleged theft of Ram Temple donation funds. As per the source, the decision on the resignations of Rai and Mishra is likely to be taken in a key meeting scheduled to take place on July 6 by a two-thirds
majority. Notably, under the by-laws, a two-third majority in the trust is required to accept a resignation. As per these rules, an office-bearer can only be relieved of their post and responsibilities. Even if Rai's resignation is accepted, he will continue to remain a member of the trust. At present, two of the trust's 14 members have already resigned. Therefore, the opinions of the remaining 12 trustees will be considered during the meeting.
