'Keep 30-Day LPG Reserves': Govt Directs Oil Companies Amid Hormuz Blockade, Mideast Tensions

The government on Friday said that it is working with the oil marketing companies on holding strategic gas reserves for at least 30 days, in wake of blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and tensions in the Gulf. Addressing a presser, Petroleum Ministry Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma said, "We are working on the strategic reserves. Oil marketing companies have been asked to work out (a plan) to have LPG reserves for a minimum of 30 days with them, and they are working on it."Once again assuring the country on energy stocks amid war the ongoing war in the Gulf, Sujata Sharma said, "We have sufficient stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Adequate inventories of natural gas and crude oil have also been secured. All our refineries are operating at optimum

levels, and LPG production is at an all-time high of around 92 TMT per day. No dry-out has been reported at LPG distributorships..."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in its weekly presser shared an update on the stranded Indian vessels in the Gulf and said, "It is our understanding that 11 Indian flagged vessels are still in the Persian Gulf region, and 14 of these ships have come back. I mean, they were there in the Persian Gulf, but they were able to cross the Straits of Hormuz, and they have reached India."Regarding the first shipment of gas from Norway that arrived in India, Jaiswal said, "Energy security is very important for us. We are trying to diversify our sources from across the world. That is our policy right now, and we welcome whatever support we can get from various markets across the world. In regard to a specific question, has something else also come here? I don't have an update. Perhaps the shipping ministry may have, or I will come back to you on that."
