Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the Centre to provide Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide amid the fallout from examination paper leak controversies. In the letter, Dipke claimed that 11 students had died by suicide in recent weeks, with five deaths occurring within the previous 48 hours. He argued that repeated paper leak incidents, uncertainty surrounding examinations, and the pressure of re-tests had created severe mental distress among students and their families."Far from slowing down, this devastating trend is intensifying as the pressures of upcoming re-examinations loom over our youth. Over the past
two months, I have personally met with several grief-stricken families of students who have tragically died by suicide," he wrote in the letter. "Beyond the unbearable emotional trauma of losing a child, these families are now facing severe, compounding financial ruin. In pursuit of a better future, many had taken out massive educational loans to support their children's dreams, that were cruelly shattered by systemic failures," Dipke added.

Calling for immediate government intervention, Dipke said families who invested their savings and took educational loans for their children's futures had been left devastated both emotionally and financially. He demanded financial assistance of Rs 1 crore for affected families and sought accountability from those responsible for the alleged failures in the examination system. The letter also renewed calls for the resignation of Education Minister
Dharmendra Pradhan, with Dipke alleging that systemic mismanagement and recurring paper leak controversies had eroded public confidence in India's education system."We urge you to intervene immediately, prioritise the mental health and safety of our students, and bring about the structural reforms needed to ensure that no more young lives are cut short by academic despair," he wrote.Dipke further announced that students from across the country would gather at Jantar Mantar from June 20 onwards to press for their demands and seek reforms aimed at protecting students' welfare and restoring trust in competitive examinations. The NEET UG 2026 re-examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 21 across designated examination centres.
