polling for phase 1 of the Bihar assembly elections began at 7 am today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to citizens to cast their vote with full enthusiasm. Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi also congratulated the first-time voters in the state and quipped, "Pehle matdaan, phir jalpaan!" (First voting, then refreshments). "Today in Bihar is the first phase of the festival of democracy. My appeal to all voters of this phase in the assembly elections is that they should vote with full enthusiasm. On this occasion, my special congratulations to all my young companions of the state who are going to cast their vote for the first time. Remember—first voting, then refreshments!" said PM Modi.
Bihar Election 2025: First phase begins
Assembly elections in Bihar will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, while the counting of votes is set for November 14. There are a total of 243 Assembly constituencies in Bihar. In the first phase, polling will be held in 121 constituencies, while the remaining 122 will vote in the second phase.The first phase is expected to set the tone for the high-stakes polls, with several prominent faces in the fray, including Mahagathbandhan's CM face Tejashwi Yadav, incumbent Deputy CM and BJP leader Samrat Choudhary, and Lalu Yadav's elder son and former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav, among others.Key battlegrounds include Raghopur, where Tejashwi Yadav is contesting; Mahua, where his brother Tej Pratap Yadav is testing his luck with a new political outfit; and Tarapur, the constituency of Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.Do you find this article useful?
