The names of six uniformed personnel who lost their lives during Operation Sindoor against Pakistan have been made public for the first time, with their details now featured on the Army War Memorial's official website. The list includes five Army personnel, namely Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Mood Murli Naik, and Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, along with Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force.The names have been included in the Army War Memorial's 2025 roll of honour, which records soldiers who laid down their lives in various military operations during the year. As part of the memorial's tradition, their names will be engraved on commemorative bricks at the National War Memorial in New
Delhi.Two of the six have been conferred gallantry awards. Rifleman Sunil Kumar was awarded the Vir Chakra posthumously, while Sergeant Surendra Kumar received the Vayu Medal.President Droupadi Murmu presented the Vir Chakra (posthumously) to Rifleman Sunil Kumar's parents during the Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 8.The publication of the names marks the first official disclosure of the identities of the six personnel killed during Operation Sindoor, India's military operation against Pakistan last year.
