In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old engineering student from Telangana died after jumping from his apartment during a fire in Germany on New Year's Eve. Thokala Hruthik Reddy was a native of Malkapur village
of Chilpur mandal in Jangaon district, Telangana and was trapped after a fire engulfed his apartment during celebrations on December 31. The fire spread across the floor of his apartment, leaving him stuck with no escape route.According to reports, Hruthik was living in a fourth-floor apartment in Magdeburg, where the fire started. Escaping the fire, he descended to the third floor, but with thick smoke and flames engulfing, he jumped from the third floor to save his life. During the fall he suffered a head injury and died while being treated at a hospital.
Who was Thokala Hruthik Reddy?
Reddy was pursuing his master's degree at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Potsdam. He had moved to Germany in 2023 to pursue a degree from the University of Europe for Applied Sciences. Hruthik completed his BTech in 2022 from the Vaagdevi College of Engineering in Warangal. Relatives in Malkapur said they learned of his death from German authorities and urged Indian officials to assist with the body's repatriation. Meanwhile, the German authorities are conducting a probe to find what caused the fire.The incident comes a month after another student from Telangana, identified as Sahaja Reddy Udumala, was killed in a fire at her house in the United States.
