Multiple earthquakes were recorded across the Himalayan and Central Asian region on Sunday, with tremors reported in Tibet and Afghanistan, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). 88.02°E, the agency said.Meanwhile, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 struck Afghanistan in the early hours of Sunday. According to the NCS, the tremor was recorded at 02:42:49 IST, with its epicentre located at latitude 37.09 N and longitude 71.16 E, at a depth of 112 km. “EQ of M: 4.1, On: 25/01/2026 02:42:49 IST, Lat: 37.09 N, Long: 71.16 E, Depth: 112 Km, Location: Afghanistan,” the NCS said in a post.Were Tremors Felt in India?There were no reports of residents feeling even mild tremors following the earthquakes, similarly no damage to property or injuries. Officials said the tremors were weak and lasted only a few seconds, but were noticeable in high-altitude and border regions.Shallow earthquakes are generally considered more dangerous as seismic waves have a shorter distance to travel to the surface, resulting in stronger ground shaking.
