New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made multiple arrests in a criminal network involving Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) officials in Jaipur and others in an alleged bribery
case."The CBI has busted a criminal network involving an Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) advocate, one judicial member and an Assistant Registrar, all from Jaipur and other unknown public servants & private persons for indulging in corrupt activities for settling appeals pending in ITAT bench in favour of concerned appellants in lieu of bribe," the probe agency said in a statement on Wednesday.The CBI said those arrested in the alleged corruption case are:
- Rajendra Sisodia, Advocate, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur
- Dr. S. Seethalakshmi, Judicial Member, ITAT, Jaipur
- Mujmmel, Appellant
The anti corruption federal probe agency after verifying a source information on Tuesday registered a case against Rajendra Sisodia, advocate ITAT and others including member and assistant registrar Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Jaipur.On Tuesday, CBI arrested advocate Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT), Jaipur with bribe amount of Rs 5.5 lakhs paid by the appellant through hawala network.Later Judicial Member, ITAT, Jaipur, was arrested along with the recovery of Rs 30 lakhs from her official car and the appellant was also arrested.The probe agency has said that during investigation, searches were carried out at multiple locations including Jaipur and Kota. "Over Rs 1 crore, transaction details, property documents and other documents have been seized which indicate an organised syndicate," said the CBI.
