As many as 18 members of a family across three generations were killed in the fatal bus crash in Saudi Arabia. A bus carrying Indian pilgrims collided with an oil tanker in Saudi Arabia killing 45 onboard. Naseeruddin Shaik, a retired railway employee, was travelling in the ill-fated bus along with his wife, son, three daughters and grandchildren on his way to Madina, his nephew Mohammed Aslam said. Naseeruddin's another son is currently in the US."Whether it was an accident or what happened we do not know, but total 18 members- Naseeruddin Shaik, his son, daughters and grandchildren were in the bus," Aslam told PTI.Aslam demanded a full-fledged inquiry into the incident, as well as into the travel agency through which these people travelled
to Saudi Arabia.
45 Killed in Saudi Bus Crash
At least 45 people, most of them from Hyderabad, were killed in Saudi Arabia's Madina after their bus collided with an oil tanker, Hyderabad police chief VC Sajjanar said on Monday citing preliminary information. The accident took place nearly 40 km from Madina at around 11 pm local time (1:30 am, IST). The bus had stopped on the side of a road, and during this stoppage, an oil tanker collided with the bus, resulting in an explosion, reported PTI. However, there was no official word from Saudi authorities or the government of India over casualties so far.It has been confirmed that there is one Indian survivor and he is undergoing medical treatment. The mortal remains of the deceased have been transferred to King Fahad Hospital, King Salman Hospital and Al Miqat Hospital, and officials from the Indian mission in Jeddah are coordinating with the local authorities to handle the situation, the report said. The Indian mission in Jeddah has set up a 24X7 control room for coordination. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and other leaders conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased.
