United States on Thursday sought to control the damage done by a controversial social media post amplified by US President Donald Trump, by putting out a message that the American leader believes India is a "great" country led by a "good friend of mine".The President has said, "India is a great country with a very good friend of mine at the top", the spokesperson of the US embassy said. The US President, earlier today, reposted the transcript of a podcast on his social media platform, which referred to India and other nations as "hellholes". The letter slammed birthright citizenship, calling it a scam. The remarks were reportedly made by prominent conservative author and radio host Michael Savage in a podcast, who claimed the current legal system allows immigrants to exploit American laws by arriving in the "ninth month of their pregnancy".
