Kumar government in the state.
What Cops Said As They Try To Arrest Pappu Yadav
Patna SP City Bhanu Pratap Singh said that the MP was supposed to appear before the court in an old case. Since he failed to appear therefore the lawmaker was being arrested.Speaking to media, Bhanu Pratap Singh informed, "This is a 1995 case which was under the old IPC, now replaced by the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), involving sections 419, 420, 468, 448, 506, and 120B. The arrest is being made under these sections. This case is related to Gardanibagh police station. The trial was ongoing in court, and the MP was supposed to appear, but he did not appear on the scheduled date. Therefore, he is being arrested..."
In another statement, Patna SP said, "A trial court case from 1995 is ongoing against him. A warrant was issued and he was to appear in court but did not comply. His arrest has been ensured for non-compliance, and further proceedings will follow. As per law, a medical fitness certificate will be obtained after a medical examination before proceeding further."
High Voltage Drama Erupts at Pappu Yadav's Residence
The events unfolded at the Purnea MP's residence in Mandiri locality of the city where Pappu Yadav told the visiting police team -- that had come to arrest him -- to "go back" while promising that he would turn up before the court."I have come back after attending the Parliament session. I am aware of the court summons and will be appearing tomorrow. But the policemen, some of whom came in civil dress, are behaving badly", he told PTI.
Felt Someone Might Even Open Fire, Pappu Yadav's Big Charge
Speaking to media when a police team arrived to arrest him, Yadav alleged that the cops came without uniform and were in civil dress. He claimed that their behaviour was very aggressive adding he felt they might even had opened fire. "The Lok Sabha session is underway and my fight is over NEET. People came here in casual clothes, none of them were in uniform. I don’t know what they had come to do. When we raise issues, the way the Bihar government treats an MP while Parliament is in session is unacceptable. They misbehaved as soon as they arrived. One person came very aggressively, I felt he might even open fire. They said they came with a warrant, but it seems to be a very old warrant, around 35-years-old," Pappu Yadav told reporters.Yadav claimed that he was being targeted because he has been criticising the state government, especially with regard to a NEET aspirant's recent death which has been handed over to CBI.Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma told PTI that "a warrant was issued by the MP/MLA court in connection with a 1995 case after Yadav failed to appear before it. We therefore sent a team to produce him before court".
