Trade and investments, technology and innovation and climate change will be in the agenda when Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten very shortly.The Netherlands is the first leg of the PM’s visit to Europe and he will also visit Sweden, Norway and Italy.- India and The Netherlands already have an MOU or memorandum of understanding on semi-conductors and further movement in this area is likely. PM will also interact with CEOs of leading industries during his stay here.- Green hydrogen is on the agenda, with India keen to provide enough quantities of it to power the busy port of Rotterdam. India hopes to be one of the largest producers in the world.- While the Dutch are not a major military power, they have technological
capabilities, particularly in the “underwater domain,” sources said. Importantly, India hopes to have collaborations and coproduction in India leading to exports.- Education is another area. There are about 3,500 Indian students in The Netherlands and closer ties between Dutch educational institutions and the IITs or the Indian Institutes of Technology are on the anvil.- The Dutch are one of India’s closest partners, when it comes to trade and investment. There’s already $55 billion Dutch investment in India. In terms of trade, they are very high up on the list. Further movement is of course likely.- Of course, issues like terrorism and the two wars — between Russia and Ukraine and the United States of America and Iran will come up during the discussions. India will reiterate it’s position on peace through dialogue and diplomacy.
