Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested three men, including a Hyderabad-based doctor, for allegedly plotting a major terror attack using weapons and deadly chemicals.
Doctor Among Three Arrested for Terror Conspiracy
According to Gujarat ATS DIG Sunil Joshi, the arrested suspects include Dr. Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed from Hyderabad, and two men from Uttar Pradesh - Azad Suleman Sheikh and Mohammad Suhail Mohammad Saleem.Saiyed, who holds an MBBS degree from China, was allegedly in touch with an Afghanistan-based handler linked to the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).
Arms, Cartridges, and Castor Oil Seized in Gujarat Raid
Acting on a tip-off, ATS teams arrested Dr. Saiyed near Adalaj in Gandhinagar on November 7. Officers recovered two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges, and four litres of castor oil, which is used to produce ricin, a highly toxic chemical.Saiyed had reportedly picked up the weapons from a secluded area in Kalol, Gandhinagar district.

Accused Planned to Make ‘Ricin’ Poison, Says ATS
DIG Joshi said Saiyed had been researching and preparing to produce ricin, a potent biological toxin that can be lethal even in small doses.“To execute a major terrorist attack, Saiyed was preparing a highly lethal poison named ‘ricin’. He had already started chemical processing and procured the necessary raw materials,” Joshi said.He added that the doctor was radicalised and planned to recruit others and raise funds for terror activities in India.
Pakistan-Based Handler Sent Weapons via Drone
Investigations revealed that Saiyed’s handler, identified as Abu Khadija, an Afghan national linked to ISKP, coordinated arms consignments using drones to cross the Pakistan border.Based on information extracted from Saiyed’s phone, ATS arrested his two suppliers - Sheikh and Saleem - from Banaskantha district. The duo had allegedly sourced weapons from Hanumangarh in Rajasthan before delivering them to Saiyed.
Sensitive Sites in Delhi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad Under Recce
The ATS said the accused had conducted reconnaissance at several sensitive locations in Lucknow, Delhi, and Ahmedabad.All three have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and the Arms Act. Saiyed has been remanded to ATS custody until November 17, while the other two will be produced before a court.Authorities are probing possible links between the accused and ISKP as part of a wider multi-state investigation.
