PM Modi Holds Talks With Ukraine's Zelenskyy At G7, Says 'India Will Always Be On Side Of Peace'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France's Evian, with discussions focusing on bilateral cooperation, trade and efforts to advance peace. During the meet, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s position on the conflict, saying the New Delhi would "always be on the side of peace" and places "values of humanity over everything else'Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, "Met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Evian. In recent times, India and Ukraine have been engaging extensively. This has been reflected in different areas of our cooperation." trade ties need to be restored to what they were in the pre-war time. Also reiterated that India will always be on the side of peace, placing the values of humanity over everything else," he added.

G7 Leaders Pledge More Help For Ukraine: Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has won key pledges of further support from world leaders in defending itself from Russia's invasion. It has been almost five years, since Moscow invaded Ukraine. Leaders attending the Group of Seven summit in France promised to strengthen Ukraine's air defences and ensure its energy supply, as well as step up international economic pressure on Moscow."The G7 Summit in France delivered important results for Ukraine. Most importantly, we agreed on additional strengthening of Ukraine's air defence," Zelenskyy wrote on X.

"Our partners will ensure support for our defence and energy resilience," he said, adding they will also introduce new sanctions on Russia.
