EVM Footage for Bihar's Mahnar Constituency from Strongroom Goes Blank, RJD Agents Share Video — DM Explains What Exactly Happened

Vaishali: After voting concluded for Phase 1 of the Bihar Assembly election on November 6, an incident came to light when a video surfaced on social media showed the EVM display turning off inside a strong room in the Mahnar constituency.As speculation began to spread, Vaishali District Magistrate Varsha Singh clarified the matter and explained what actually happened, while also hitting out at RJD agents who were present at that time and allegedly shared the video to spread misinformation.Vaishali DM Varsha Singh said, “A strong room has been set up at RN College for five Assembly constituencies, and display units have been installed there for the candidates or their agents to monitor.”“The incident in question took place at this location at 11:52

pm. As seen in the video, the display for the Mahnar constituency went blank, while the displays for the other four constituencies continued to function. The video also shows a pickup van moving out of the premises. Upon investigation, it was found that at 11:52 pm, the TV’s auto timer lock was activated, causing the display to suddenly switch off. However, video recording continued, and in the administrative control room, all five Assembly constituency displays were working properly at that time,” she informed.

Revealing further details, Varsha Singh said, “Two RJD agents from the Lalganj constituency were present there. Kundan Kumar, one of the agents, recorded the video, while the other, Sonu Kumar, went to the control room and verified that the video feed for Mahnar was also on.”

“Despite this, the video was shared to spread misleading information. As for the pickup van shown in the video, it was carrying bedding materials and other items belonging to the security forces. The vehicle was properly checked at the gate, allowed entry to unload the materials, and left the premises within 15 minutes,” the District Magistrate added.

Bihar Assembly elections are being held in two phases. Voting in the first phase on 121 seats has already concluded on November 6, while polling in remaining 122 seats is set for November 11. The results will be declared on November 14.
