The scheduled dedication of the HRRL refinery by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21 has been postponed following a fire incident near the Crude Distillation Unit at the refinery, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said in a post on X. The fire has been brought under control and there are no reports of any casualties. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and to take necessary remedial measures, it said. A revised date for the dedication of the refinery will be announced in due course, the ministry said.
A fire broke out at the Pachpadra refinery in Rajasthan’s Balotra district on Monday, a day before its scheduled inauguration by PM Modi. Fire tenders were rushed to the site and efforts were underway to control the blaze. There were no immediate reports of any casualties, reported PTI. The incident caused some disruption inside the premises, where preparations were ongoing for Tuesday’s high-profile inauguration.
