'Will Go Down In History...': CJP Thanks Sonam Wangchuk's Gandhian Satyagraha As Protest Ends

Following its decision to end the ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday paid tribute to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, crediting his 26-day hunger strike for awakening the nation. Describing his satyagraha as a defining moment in the campaign, the CJP said that Wangchuk's Gandhian Satyagraha will go down in history as the moral force that united everyone against impossible odds.Taking to X, CJP said, "Sonam Wangchuk's Gandhian satyagraha awakened an entire nation. Fasting for 26 days for the youth of this country was a pure and supreme sacrifice. Wangchuk's 26-day indefinite fast became one of the defining symbols of the anti-NEET paper leak movement. He ended the hunger strike after the Centre assured action on key demands, including discussions on accountability for examination irregularities and broader reforms.CJP's thank you message came shortly after the Centre accepted several demands raised by the CJP, including assurances of compensation for affected families, withdrawal of FIRs against protesters, and further discussions on education reforms. In addition to this, Dharmendra Pradhan also resigned as the Union Education Minister on Saturday, one of the key demands of the protesters.

CJP Announces Withdrawal Of Protest

In a big announcement, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Saturday agreed to withdraw its protest "with immediate effect" and asked supporters at Delhi's Jantar Mantar to return home. The announcement came in a joint government-CJP press conference, following the announcement of Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation as Union Education Minister over the NEET paper leak row.Addressing the joint press conference, Cockroach Janta Party's chief spokesperson Saurav Das said, " Cockroach Janta Party declares that we withdraw the agitation in good faith, with the understanding that the agreed-upon terms will be executed within the agreed-upon timelines."
