Shocking visuals had emerged from Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday evening showing a 50-year-old e-rickshaw driver being swept nearly 50 feet into the air by powerful storm winds after he tried to hold down a tin shed at a wedding hall in Bamiana village. He landed in a nearby sugarcane field, suffering fractures in his hand and leg, while a video of the dramatic incident turned him into an overnight internet sensation.Mohd Nanhe, a resident of Bamiana village, about 22 km from Bareilly city, had reportedly gone to the wedding hall to collect some goods when the weather suddenly took a violent turn. As strong winds began uprooting the tin shed, Nanhe tried to prevent it from being blown away by tying a rope to the structure and holding on to it. However,
the gusts proved too powerful, and the shed broke loose, lifting him into the air along with it.Narrating the incident, he shared that he briefly lost consciousness after he was swept up and flung down, but later said the thick crop helped cushion his fall and likely saved his life. “When I was in the air, I thought I would never see my children again,” he recalled, TOI reported.
Nanhe remained airborne for nearly seven seconds before being hurled across the area and falling into an adjoining sugarcane field. The video was also shared on X by user (@utkarshs88), who described the incident as a horrifying moment from Bareilly, noting how the man was tossed by strong winds and thrown back onto the ground after being carried upward by the storm’s force. He was later dubbed Bareilly's 'flying man'.
