portion of the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway caved in after heavy rainfall near Korari village in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district on Sunday, affecting vehicular movement along the route.According to initial reports, the road surface collapsed following incessant rain, creating a large depression on the expressway. Authorities have restricted traffic in the affected stretch as a precaution, while repair work is expected to begin shortly.No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.

Police and local administration officials reached the spot to assess the damage and regulate traffic. Commuters have been advised to exercise caution and use alternate routes, where possible, until the damaged section is restored.The exact cause of the cave-in is yet to be officially confirmed, though preliminary information suggests that continuous heavy rainfall may have weakened the road foundation.In a similar incident this week, a major stretch of the Mussoorie-Dehradun road near Pani Wala Bend was shut after large cracks appeared on the road and the surface began sinking following heavy overnight rain. Officials said the embankment beneath the road had weakened, making the route unsafe for traffic. The damage was first noticed early in the morning when cracks started appearing on the carriageway.Earlier this month, a 28-year-old man lost his life in Noida after allegedly falling into a rainwater-filled roadside drain. Reports suggest that the deceased was walking over concrete slabs placed on top of a roadside drain because the road was submerged due to heavy rain. One of the slabs was allegedly unstable, causing him to fall into the drain.
