A grieving husband was forced to carry his wife's body home on a motorcycle after allegedly failing to get a hearse vehicle or ambulance from the hospital.In a shocking incident from Jharsuguda district, a helpless husband had to transport his wife's body on a motorcycle after allegedly receiving no assistance from the local health authorities.The incident took place in Odiyapali village under Bhatlaida Panchayat in Laikera block.According to reports, Naresh Chhatria rushed his wife, Yamuna Chhatria, to the Mudrajore Community Health Centre early on Saturday morning after she fell seriously ill. However,
doctors declared her dead upon arrival.The family's ordeal did not end there.After the death, Naresh reportedly tried repeatedly to arrange a hearse vehicle or ambulance to take his wife's body back to their village. Despite his efforts, no transport was allegedly made available, and he claimed that he received no help from the authorities.With no other option left, the grieving husband placed his wife's body on the back of a neighbour's motorcycle and began the painful journey home.Speaking about his ordeal, Naresh said,"I could not get an ambulance or a hearse vehicle. I had no choice but to carry my wife's body home on a motorcycle."The heartbreaking visuals have sparked outrage among local residents, who say the incident exposes the harsh reality of healthcare infrastructure in rural Odisha.Residents have demanded accountability from the administration and urged the government to ensure that every government health centre is equipped with a dedicated hearse vehicle so that no family has to endure such inhuman suffering again.The incident has once again reignited the debate over the gap between official claims of rural healthcare development and the ground reality faced by ordinary citizens.
