Heartfelt best wishes to all the ministers of the Bihar government who took the oath as members of the Council of Ministers," said Yadav. He added, "I hope that the new government will live up to the hopes and expectations of people, fulfill its promises and declarations, and bring positive and qualitative changes in the lives of the people of Bihar."
RJD's electoral drubbing in Bihar
RJD suffered a major loss in the Bihar Assembly election, finishing the election as the third-largest party with just 25 seats, despite contesting more than 140 seats. The ruling NDA got 202 seats, with BJP emerging as the single-largest party (89), a three-fourths majority in the 243-member House. After the results, protests erupted outside the RJD headquarters in Patna as angry party workers vented their frustration over the party's crushing defeat. The demonstrations were directed at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and his close aide Sanjay Yadav. In a dramatic show of dissent, protesters also burned an effigy of Sanjay Yadav, accusing "outsiders" of interfering in the party's functioning. Several workers shouted that people "who have come from outside Bihar" cannot be allowed to "run the party or the state."The sentiment echoed recent remarks by Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter, Rohini Acharya, who had criticised the influence of "Haryanvis" in party affairs while "disowning" her family. Protesters on the ground repeated similar concerns, insisting that the RJD must be led by someone rooted in Bihar, not by leaders or strategists from Haryana.
