The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to stage a spectacular air show over the Brahmaputra in Guwahati on November 9, marking the 93rd anniversary of the Force. Ahead of the main event, a full-dress rehearsal was successfully conducted today at Lachit Ghat, drawing enthusiastic crowds who witnessed breathtaking aerial maneuvers.The flying display will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, allowing people to enjoy the spectacle from both the northern and southern banks of the river. The lineup will feature some of the IAF’s most advanced aircraft, including the indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, Rafale, and the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT).This year’s Air Force Day celebrations revolve around the theme “Infallible,
Impervious, and Precise,” underscoring the IAF’s commitment to operational excellence, resilience, and precision. Nearly 60 aircraft, including Sukhoi, Rafale, Mirage, and Apache helicopters, will take part in the event, flying in formations named after iconic sites of the Northeast such as Lachit, Kaziranga, Manas, Elephant, and Barak.The show will open with the LCA Tejas formation “Lachit,” paying tribute to Assamese military hero Lachit Barphukan, while the Apache fleet will soar with the call sign “Rhinoceros,” symbolizing the region’s rich wildlife heritage.Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh will attend the grand display. Seven major airbases across Assam and West Bengal — including Guwahati, Tezpur, Hasimara, and Bagdogra — have been placed on operational alert for the event. A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has also been issued for the duration of the show.The Guwahati air show is expected to attract massive public participation, inspiring youth to pursue careers in the armed forces and celebrating the legacy and might of the Indian Air Force.
