Goa Marks International Day of Yoga 2026 with Participation of More Than 2.5 Lakh Goans

Goa celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2026 with remarkable enthusiasm and widespread public participation of 2,52,000 people. Organised through the collective efforts of the Government of Goa, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, yoga associations, and community groups, the celebrations highlighted the importance of Yoga as a holistic approach to physical fitness, mental well-being, preventive healthcare, and healthy living.The observance witnessed large-scale participation across urban and rural Goa, with Yoga programmes conducted at 1,452 locations statewide. Citizens from all walks of life came together to participate in Common Yoga Protocol sessions, meditation practices, pranayama exercises, wellness activities, and awareness

programmes promoting the benefits of Yoga. A total of 2,52,000 participants registered through the official online certification portal, reflecting the growing acceptance of Yoga as an integral part of a healthy lifestyle.The celebrations received active support from various departments of the Government of Goa, including the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Department of AYUSH, Department of Education, Health and allied departments, along with several government institutions and agencies. Government officers, employees, students, and citizens participated enthusiastically in Yoga sessions organized across the State.

Education Institutions Play Key Role in Yoga Day Success

Educational institutions played a significant role in the success of the initiative. Prominent participants included the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, Gomantak Ayurveda and Research Centre, Shiroda, Goa College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Sankhali, Goa College of Physiotherapy, nursing institutions, healthcare colleges, schools, and various educational associations.The event also witnessed active participation from leading Yoga and wellness organisations, including Patanjali Yog Peeth, Laxmi Yog Foundation, Swami Vivekananda Yoga Groups, Ambika Yog Kutir, Oorja Wellness Centre, Brahma Kumaris, BPS Sports Club, Heartfulness, Peace & Bliss Yoga, Suyog Foundation, Suyash Wellness Groups, Sadguru Brahmeshanand Yog Peeth, and several local Yoga clubs and practitioners from across Goa.Programmes conducted during the celebration included mass Yoga demonstrations, Common Yoga Protocol sessions, pranayama and meditation workshops, health and wellness activities, awareness campaigns, and special demonstrations by trained Yoga instructors and students.The successful conduct of International Day of Yoga 2026 across 1,452 locations and the participation of more than 2.52 lakh registered individuals reflect Goa’s continued commitment to promoting wellness, preventive healthcare, and community well-being. The initiative was conducted under the guidance and leadership of the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant.The celebration reinforced the message of “Yoga for Health, Harmony and Well-being”, encouraging citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles and strengthen the culture of wellness across the State.
