A Telangana Congress MLA narrowly escaped injury on Tuesday when the floor of an under-construction Indiramma housing project collapsed during his inspection in Vemulawada town. The incident occurred as

Adi Srinivas, accompanied by the District Collector and a team of officials, engineers and contractors, stepped onto the freshly laid basement slab to review on-site progress.A video from the incident, recorded by a bystander and widely shared on social media shows the slab suddenly giving way, sending dust and debris flying. The group had reportedly climbed onto the platform to check the work and assess concrete quality when the collapse occurred. According to reports, none of them was seriously injured.

Congress MLA issues warning

Calling the incident a result of poor construction standards, Srinivas alleged large-scale negligence and corruption in the execution of the state housing scheme, The South First reported."This is a clear case of corruption. Substandard material has been used. Had people been living here, many lives would have been lost. I will not spare anyone responsible," the MLA told reporters at the site.The collapse has triggered widespread concern over construction quality and safety protocols in government-backed welfare housing projects. Officials are now expected to initiate a detailed structural review and accountability inquiry.
