Video: Jitendra Singh’s ‘Immediate Effect’ Reminder As CJP Calls Off Protest

A new video is circulating on social media from the press conference of the Cockroach Janta Party in which Minister of State (PMO) Jitendra Singh could be seen interjecting with a pointed "with immediate effect" reminder to Saurav Das as he announced the end of the protest. The CJP on Saturday called off its 36-day agitation after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the government accepted its other demands. The announcement came after the third round of talks between the two sides at the Constitution Club of India in Delhi, where Union ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh met CJP representatives Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.Following the meeting, Jitendra Singh, JP Nadda, and CJP spokespersons held a joint press conference.

At the presser, Saurav Das announced that the government has agreed to cancel police cases against students and promised to not take any action against them in future. "The Cockroach Janta Party declares that we withdraw the agitation in good faith and understanding that the agreed-upon terms will be executed within the agreed-upon timelines," Das said. Das then moved the microphone towards Ranka to let him share more details. Before Ranka took the microphone, Singh drew Das' attention to the announcement he had just made and asked to add "with immediate effect". While Das nodded in agreement, Ranka said that the protest would end "with immediate effect".

At Jantar Mantar, protesters erupted in celebration as news of the resignation broke. They danced, waved the tricolour and embraced each other while songs such as "Chak De India" played in the background. Many held portraits of B R Ambedkar, calling the resignation a victory for the movement.Addressing the jubilant gathering, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said, "Pradhan's resignation is proof that if you don't get scared, you can win. They used to say that this government does not see resignations. We say the world bends if there is someone who can make it bend."
