Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has secured the first position in the country in the digital registration of Waqf properties. An order was issued by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, on June 6, 2025, for the registration of all Waqf properties on the 'Ummeed' portal by December 5, 2025. In this regard, Uttar Pradesh has successfully completed the online registration of a total of 92,832 Waqf properties, including 86,347 Sunni and 6,485 Shia Waqf properties. Although the central government has extended the date for the registration of Waqf properties by 6 months, this achievement of Uttar Pradesh not only reflects the efficient and transparent administration of CM Yogi Adityanath but
will also prove to be a significant step towards the protection and development of the properties of the Waqf Boards.According to the nationwide data of the Ummeed portal, Uttar Pradesh's contribution to the total digital registration of Waqf properties across India is the highest. Although the central government has extended the online registration period on the Ummeed portal, the proactive approach of the Uttar Pradesh government ensured that this target was not only met on time but was achieved even before the stipulated period.In this regard, a total of 92,832 Waqf properties have been registered online on the 'Ummeed' portal in Uttar Pradesh, comprising 86,347 Sunni and 6,485 Shia Waqf properties. Due to the awareness campaign and administrative support launched by the state government, most of the Mutawallis (managers of Waqf properties) have completed the online registration of Waqf properties on time.The district-wise data from the Ummeed portal reveals that Lucknow is at the forefront of online registration of Shia Waqf properties, with 625 properties registered.Amroha district follows a second place with 539 online registrations of Shia Waqf properties, and Meerut is third with 533 registered properties. On the other hand, the registration of Sunni Waqf properties on the Ummeed portal, Barabanki secured the first position with 4,940 registered properties. Sitapur came second, and Azamgarh at third. Bijnor, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Meerut, and Jaunpur districts are also among the leading districts in the online registration of Sunni Waqf properties. This achievement of the Uttar Pradesh government demonstrates the efficient leadership and administrative capabilities of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and will bring transparency to the management of Waqf properties, prevent their misuse, and accelerate their preservation and development.
