The Southern Star Army Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA) brought forth an inspiring celebration of courage and inner strength as it hosted “ASMITA–Dakshini Kathan 2025” in Pune. The event spotlighted
the extraordinary resilience of Army wives—women who stand strong behind the uniform and embody quiet leadership in the face of life’s unpredictable challenges.This year’s edition featured eight Army wives, each narrating deeply personal accounts of overcoming adversity, navigating the complexities of military life, and carving out a distinct identity despite frequent relocations and prolonged separations. Their stories, marked by perseverance, hope and unwavering determination, moved the audience and highlighted the emotional backbone of India’s military community.ASMITA, a flagship initiative of AWWA, continues to provide a meaningful platform for Army spouses to share their journeys and inspire others. It aims to bring visibility to the sacrifices and achievements of women who support soldiers while managing families, careers and personal aspirations in demanding circumstances.The event was graced by Padma Shri Dr. Deepa Malik, Arjuna and Khel Ratna Awardee and one of India’s most celebrated para-athletes, along with Mrs. Alina Alam, founder of Mitti Café. Their powerful messages on resilience, inclusion and empowerment added depth to the programme. Senior veteran ladies and distinguished civilian dignitaries were also present, offering encouragement and solidarity.Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Komal Seth, Regional President AWWA, reiterated the organisation’s mission, stating that “ASMITA–Dakshini Kathan 2025 is not merely an event but a movement dedicated to nurturing self-belief, fostering mutual support and celebrating the identity and achievements of Army wives.” She highlighted AWWA’s continued commitment to uplift and empower the forces fraternity.The event concluded with renewed inspiration and collective pride, reinforcing that behind every soldier’s unwavering duty stands the remarkable strength of the women who support, guide and motivate them. Through ASMITA, AWWA once again celebrated not only the stories of these women but also the unbreakable spirit that defines India’s Army families.
