'My Father Faced Vitriolic Attack In Parliament, Threats From Outside After That Judgment': Ex-CJI Chandrachud After Watching 'Haq'

Former Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud has revealed that his father Justice YV Chandrachud faced a “vitriolic attack” in the parliament and also many threats to his life after the Supreme Court bench led by him delivered the landmark judgment 40 years ago ordering maintenance for Muslim women divorced by her husband.“There was a vitriolic attack on him in parliament for a judgment which said that a right given to women as per our law cannot be taken away from them on basis of caste or religion or whatever as these are rights which are uniform for every woman irrespective of caste, creed or religion”, the former CJI said last night after watching Haq, the Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam Dhar starrer at a special private screening hosted by Times
