What is the story about?
The
Election Commission of India has ordered repolling at 15 polling booths across West Bengal following complaints of irregularities during the recent Assembly elections. The repoll will be held on May 2 in booths located in the Magrahat Paschim and Diamond Harbour constituencies of South 24 Parganas district. In a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal, the Election Commission (EC) said the repolling has been ordered based on inputs received from the state poll machinery and voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm.
Why Repolling Was Ordered
The poll panel declared voting held on April 29 in these booths void after receiving complaints and reports of disruptions and possible irregularities.Officials had earlier indicated that repolling would be conducted wherever credible evidence of tampering or violations surfaced, particularly in sensitive booths.Where Repolling Will Take Place
