 
Security forces on Wednesday night recovered two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), each weighing around 1 kg, from a hut at Insu village under Chongkham police station in Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai
district. According to officials, the IEDs were recovered during a search operation launched by the Assam Rifles, with the help of highly trained Explosive Detection (ED) dogs. The explosives were found concealed inside a hut whose owner is currently absconding.Preliminary inputs suggest that the IEDs were supplied by ULFA (Independent) cadres and were possibly meant to target security forces deployed in the area. Officials also revealed that the absconding owner is believed to be in possession of three more active IEDs.Security operations have been intensified in the region to trace and apprehend the suspect, while efforts are underway to neutralise any remaining explosive threats. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security post.Earlier in July this year, the security forces had recovered IED from Namsai district. The IED was recovered during a routine operation by Assam Rifles from Nangtaw village under Piyong circle. The IED is possibly an old one and that security forces are examining it, Namsai Superintendent of Police (SP) Sange Thinley. He said that Assam Rifles had reported about the recovery of the explosive to police. The SP had said security has been beefed up in Namsai district in view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.On July 17, Assam Rifles recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation in Miao in Changlang district of the northeastern state.
