The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief was reacting a day after his two-year-old party delivered a stunning performance in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, winning 108 seats, just 10 short of the majority mark, and disrupting the decades-long dominance of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

Reflecting on the party’s journey, Vijay said that from its very inception, TVK had been subjected to ridicule and dismissive commentary. “Since the very beginning, there were many who viewed us with mockery,” he wrote in a post on X, adding that such reactions were part of political life and did not deter the party.He emphasised that TVK chose to move forward without relying on established political backing, instead placing its trust solely in the people. “We stood boldly and fearlessly in the electoral battlefield,” he said.Taking aim at detractors, Vijay said that under the guise of neutrality and criticism, the party often faced “masked insults and slanderous attacks.”Despite this, he credited the people of Tamil Nadu for standing firmly behind the party.
